I like making these memory images since I am focusing on making art and its effects on memory. The challenge of not sketching in the moment when the event is happening, but rather reflecting on it after the fact, (and trying to accurately recall details) is such an engaging challenge. I like the airbrush effect in SketchbookX. For my next drawing I want to try more color and shape memorization imagery.

This afternoon my husband and I were checking out assisted living/nursing homes for my mother-in-law. When we entered the facility it was "Sock Hop" Monday and the staff were in poodle skirts and bobby socks. The DJ had just put on Etta James's "At Last." He handed me the microphone so I took it and sang the first few lines. We then met with the director and chatted about their programs. Before we left, we danced to "Jailhouse Rock" with some of the residents.
To do the memory drawing I thought about the dancing, got my iPad2 and Sensu stylus which I haven't used for about four years. I wanted to try Procreate, but I am so inexperienced with apps that when I tried to buy it, it had an "open" button, as though I already had it on my tablet. There was no icon on the tablet, so I searched and found it, but I only have access to some drawings that I did with my daughter when I first got the tablet. I was able to email one of the older drawings, but when I tried to open a new document the tablet kept going to the main screen. I decided to download Sketchbook Express and did a couple of sketches. I had some success, but it was a constant struggle to work with the various pen tips, colors, layers, etc. After that, I struggled with saving the file, sending it to the cloud, retrieving it (no luck because it doesn't show as a download file ) and finally did the tech/low tech solution of taking a photo of the artwork on a phone, emailing it and uploading it here. This has been super frustrating. But here are my pictures.
